So this year we've made it even better. Not only are we calling all budding young fashion designers, but we know that the so-called 'grown-ups' want to have a chance to win as well! So, as well as our kids categories, we have a new 'grown-ups' category.
As you know, we adore peg dolls ourselves, and thought, what better way to get those creative design talents flowing for some fun and creativity. Here are some of last years entries to give you a few ideas. Newspaper, gift wrap, ribbon, tulle, fabric, wool - they all make great clothes, it's up to you. It's easy and it's fun. You can pick up peg doll starter kits FREE of charge instore, or you can email us, and we'll post you one.
Show us your peg doll design talents and you could win one of five prizes.
There will be two kids winners - an overall winner as judged by our special guest judge, and a 'kids people's choice' as voted by our customers. Each of these winners will win Small Acorns Gift Vouchers to the value of $150. There will be 2 runners up prizes, each of $50.
And there will be one 'grown-up' winner who will also win a Small Acorns Gift Voucher to the value of $150.
We'll be displaying all peg dolls in our window and in store. And after the competition is over, we're happy to return your creations, providing you send us a stamped addressed envelope with your entry.
Here's how to enter:
- Any peg will
do. You'll find wooden pegs fairly easily at places like Spotlight or your local '$2" shop, or we have peg doll starter kits available for you. You can pick these up instore, or we can post one to you, free of charge if
you like. Each kit contains your peg
'model', some basic instructions (these same instructions are below
here), and a few fabrics. By no means do you have to use these. Be as creative as you like. We're happy to accept entries from overseas too.
- Email us with your name and a postal address so that we can send you your model peg doll.
- Post or drop your gorgeous creation in to Small Acorns, corner Blair & Wakefield Streets, Wellington on or by Monday 4th July 2011. All entries will be judged on age and creative endeavour, and public voting. For this competition the kids category is aged 2-14 years. 'Grown-ups' are over 14 years.
- Public voting will commence on our website on Wednesday 6th July for one week only.
- The winners will be announced on Thursday 14th July 2011, and will be contacted by phone or email. The judges decision is final. Prizes may not be exchanged.

The Etc collection features the Striped Petal print, which we have been loving in the notebooks for quite a while now, in a beautiful rose red and pebble grey, and also the graphic butterfly stem print in ink and olive.
Also a first for us, the mainline range features 100% leather bags, including the scrumptious soft stem-punched leather of the Cicely bag, and the bold patent Caraway, with only a very few of these available they're a hot item!

A wee surprise in our most recent delivery
from Orla Kiely Bed and
In our anticipation of waiting for the Orla Kiely bedlinen to arrive we forgot
that included in this order were some new designs of Orla's amazing towels. Not
only are these towels wonderfully soft, thick and amazingly thirsty, they are
also magnificent to look at… Well really, what else would you expect from Orla
Kiely!
The poppy red of the Abacus design is perfect- couldn’t ask for a better red,
and the pebble grey is beautiful. If you love colour, the Multi Flower design
contains a wonderful balance of chartreuse, chocolate, sky, poppy and coral, so
you can mix and match it in with any of the other Orla Kiely towel designs!
These were not the only new items in this
delivery! There is also an amazing new bedlinen design, the Multi Rhododendron print
has me in a flutter, a great modern retro print with a good, yet not
overwhelming, range of colour.

New supersoft Pink Florimund leather and
Watteau weave wallets and accessories range from Designers Guild is now
available online. While we have had this range instore for a few months, it’s
now all available online (sorry I got a bit distracted with a little cushion competition
we had going on!).
The Pink Florimund is a beautiful, and amazingly
soft, pink leather with the Florimund design printed on it in gold - this is
the perfect design for any girl who loves pink! Paired with Gold Tsuga linen on
the interior these wallets and purses are beautiful and luxurious.
The Watteau collection comes in three colour
ways including Magenta, Moss, and Turquoise. Watteau is an elegant striped

Minti's 09 Winter range is amazing, I don't
think I need to say much more.... but I will! Featuring owls, ponies, charms,
sausage dogs, winged diamonds and paper aeroplanes, there is just so much to
choose from and the colours are equally as wonderful, including blue, pinks,
grey, purple, green and even some black.
The reliable design team at Minti has continued to stay true to their ethos -
“would I wear that if I was small?” and has come out with a range that you'll
be wishing came in your size too!
We have limited our size range this winter, deciding to stick with the smaller
sizes, baby clothing is available in sizes 000-0 which will fit newborns to 12
months, and kids t-shirts and hoodies are available in sizes 2-3.
The print features large retro ovals in dynamic colour combinations on one side and bold stripes on the reverse for a modern look.

The polycarbonate appears ‘wavy’ giving the chair a light and soft look, like pleated fabric, for a sensual, fun and feminine optical effect. Devine! It is currenly available in the Big Zip Wallet, the Shoulder Bag, the Midi Sling and the Maxi Sling. As usual we only have 5 of each style, so if you love them don't hessitate because they are already zooming out of the store!
