Meet Our Interior Experts - Amanda & Karen

Amanda's passion for, and knowledge about Designers Guild borders on the 'stalker-ish'. Little did she realise upon glimpsing and coveting a Designers Guild fabric called Fleur de Midi, some 19 years ago, that her life would come to revolve around this inspirational lifestyle brand. When approached by Designers Guild in 1999 to open the first Designers Guild concept store in Australasia she jumped at the chance, and Small Acorns as we know it today, was born. Amanda's attention to detail and her sense of style have won her a loyal clientele. A born collector, her interiors incorporate her love of eclectic vintage pieces, personal treasures, beautiful fabrics, and contemporary design infused with a touch of whimsy.

Karen has over 15 years experience in the world of interior design and specialises in textiles, furniture, and styling. Beautiful fabrics and interiors with soul & warmth always inspire her rooms, but her family life with three children helps her understand the demanding and hectic lives of her clients. A great listener and a willingness to work very closely with her clients needs, ensures that her interiors are both personal, functional and unique. She adores contemporary classic pieces, designs that stand the test of time, and a room that tells a story.

Together, we work with a small team of hand-picked professional sewers, craftsmen and upholsterers who understand the level of expertise and service we demand. We're alongside them every step of the way to ensure that together we deliver the exceptional interior design service we promise.

For many people, who haven't used an interior designer before, making an appointment to have someone come to your home can be a somewhat daunting task. Will it be too expensive? Will my budget be blown? Will my home be judged? If you prefer, we can first make you a one on one appointment instore, and together we can discuss your ideas, with the advantage of our extensive fabric & wallpaper library right at hand. Then, if you're comfortable, we can make a follow up appointment in your home. Whether it's one room or a whole house, one cushion or made-to-measure curtaining, we offer personal and individual decorating solutions that will reflect your style, and ensure that your home is beautiful, comfortable and inspirational to live in.
