Afghani Kuchi Tribal Jewellery reflects nomadic freedom in its style, and combines it with various influences from many different cultures visited while traveling. The head, the hands, the ankles…there was virtually no part of the body that was left uncovered with some form of Afghani Kuchi Jewellery. Since many of these pieces were intended to be worn daily under very rough conditions, they were often boldly crafted of sturdy metal so as to withstand a rigorous nomadic lifestyle. This may explain why so many old Kuchi pieces are still available today and in relatively good condition even after decades of rugged wear. Much of this jewellery is set in alloys made by melting down old coins. In addition to semi-precious stones, pieces are crafted using glass, enamel, old coins, and plastic and stone beading – everything has a decorative value, regardless of its origin.
Please note that these are vintage pieces and as such may be missing gems or beads. Each pendant has been strung onto new black cotton threads.
